Sir Patrick Stewart Talks About his Love of James McAvoy and ‘Picard’s’ Canine Co-Star: WATCH

Share

On Friday’s episode of  The Talk, Sir Patrick Stewart dishes about the new CBS ALL ACCESS series Picard that he’s starring in and executive producing.

Stewart reveals how fellow X-Men co-star James McAvoy had interest in playing the younger Picard. “He wants to play every young version of everything I do,” jokes Stewart. “He is a brilliant and talented actor, and a very delightful, and very funny and cheeky person.”

Stewart also spills details on how his character Picard came to have a canine co-star in the upcoming series. “[The dog] is my only buddy, certainly at the beginning of the series. I’m limited in what I can tell you, but he’s no longer in Starfleet, nothing to do with the Federation. He is in France, looking after his Chateau Picard vineyard. And I said, ‘Well if I’m going to be doing that, to keep him company and keep him happy, he must have a dog… However, it has to be a pit bull.’ I’m a campaigner for that breed.”
