DC Comics Gives Every Iteration of Robin Their Due in 2020

Share

2020 marks the 80th anniversary of the character of Robin. The character who originally appeared in Detective Comics #38 in April 1940 as Dick Grayson would prove popular through the ages and launch at least four iterations.

Dick Grayson being the first (now known as Nightwing), followed by Jason Todd (killed by the Joker and resurrected as The Red Hood), Tim Drake (now Red Robin), and Damian Wayne (Batman’s son with Talia, Ra’s al Ghul’s grandson, and the current and definitely the most bad assed version).

Over the years due to various retcons and reboots they’ve been shuttled back and forth but according Bleeding Cool’s Rich Johnston, “When the DC Timeline was leaked by DC Comics at New York Comic Con, it established Bruce Wayne as having been Batman for decades. That Batman was being aged up. Taking that ten years of being Batman and making it more like forty. And earlier this week we heard that this was being embraced by the Batman offices as a way to give all of his Robin’s their full careers back. And hey, maybe that will even provide space for Spoiler. After all, the motto for 5G and the new DC Timeline as a whole is that “everything happened…”

Look up, Robins, you got your lives back.
