The actors says no.
Speaking with MTV, the 29-year-old Rocketman actor shut down the rumor that we would take over the role from Hugh Jackman.
“I think you need better beard game for Wolverine than I have,” he said. “Look, there’s no grounding for the rumor. I know that that’s probably in the pipeline at some point for Marvel but I would imagine it’s a little way off.”
“If I was asked it would be incredible. I have to confess, I think sometimes there are better candidates,” Egerton added. “Or actually, you know, who knows, because in five years maybe I’d be grizzly enough.”
Jackman has played the role in the X-Men universe in many films over the last 19 years. Jackman and Egerton have worked together previously on the film Eddie the Eagle.
Instagram user Mizuri has created an incredible look at how Taron Egerton could look as a replacement for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. In the image, Kingsman and Rocketman star Taron Egerton gets a rugged makeover, gains Wolverine’s adamantium claws and iconic hairstyle from the the old comics. The actor even wears the jacket that Hugh Jackman wore during his tenure as Wolverine in most Fox’s X-Men movies.
Mizuri says in the post: “A fan of mine @haydenly_ showed me an article today about a cool Wolverine casting. Mark Miller, a comicbook writer, said that “Taron Egerton will be the next Wolverine”. I found this interesting, and so I thought I’d make a piece of it to see how he would look. hope you guys enjoy!”
