CRAZYSEXYCOOL Saturday’s got us feeling a certain kind of way…. welcome to #GayNrd’s Daily  round-up of sex, innuendo, gossip, and probably bad taste for May 15, 2021. Art above: Neil Gaiman’s Sandman by Duncan Fegredo.

DON LEMON is out at Tonight but still at CNN. “This is the last night that will be CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. So, I appreciate all the years of CNN Tonight With Don Lemon, but changes are coming, and I will fill you in.”

Later on social media, Lemon clarified that he would not be leaving CNN. “I didn’t say I was leaving,” he said in a second video. “I just said it was the end of an era for CNN Tonight With Don Lemon. I’m not leaving CNN, so you will have to tune in Monday 10:00 to see. That’s it. So relax, I’m not leaving. I’m not leaving.”

Out Magazine: Lemon has worked with CNN since 2006, having started with CNN Tonight in 2014. During that time, he’s also hosted the CNN New Year’s Eve special and became a vocal critic of the Trump administration. Earlier this week, Lemon also announced that he and Chris Cuomo would launch a podcast called The Handoff. That project is set to feature candid conversations between the two were they “talk politics and get personal.”

NEEDS TO HAPPEN WandaVision director asked Disney about an “Agatha All Along” trap remix With Cardi B. There were many fun songs featured in WandaVision, which were written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the Oscar-winning songwriters known for Frozen and Coco. The stand-out song from the Marvel series has been “Agatha All Along,” which revealed that Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is actually Agatha Harkness. The songwriting duo recently spoke with New York Times and explained how the song came to be. They also shared their favorite remixes of the song! “There’s a trap version with a gentleman at his console, and he’s like, ‘I’m so tired, so tired,’ and then he presses play and the most glorious thing comes out,” Anderson-Lopez shared. You can check out that remix by Twitter user @lelandphilpot below:

“My personal favorite was by a very gifted rock musician who created a version that was him playing all the instruments and singing all the parts, and he finished it by like two hours after the episode had aired, without any sheet music being available. It was incredible,” Lopez shared. You can view YouTuber Timmy Sean‘s video below:

The tease of the trap version got us vexed tho.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: IS IT MOTHRA? No, just a rosy maple moth shot by Kat Ivanova. Also known as dryocampa rubicunda, the rosy maple moth, is a small North American moth in the family Saturniidae, also known as the great silk moths. It was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1793. The species is known for its wooly body and pink and yellow coloration, which varies from cream or white to bright pink or yellow.Males have bushier antennae than females, which allow them to sense female pheromones for mating.

As the common name of the species implies, the preferred host trees are maple tree. Adult females lay their yellow ovular eggs in groups of 10 to 40 on the underside of maple leaves. The emerging caterpillars, also known as the greenstriped mapleworm, mainly feed on the leaves of their host maple trees, particularly red maplesilver maple, and sugar maple. Since the caterpillars eat the entire leaf blade, in dense populations, caterpillars have been known to defoliate trees, resulting in aesthetic rather than permanent damage. However, like all other Saturniid moths, the adult moths do not eat.

KIDNEY TRANSPLANT Brian Sims, who is a Democrat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, was the first openly gay legislator to be elected in the state. The lawmaker and LGBT+ activist in a heartwarming series of social media posts on Thursday (13 May) that he had recently sat down to share a meal with his parents and a man to who he donated his kidney last year. Sims posted on Twitter that his parents “came into town for the first time since my surgery last January”, and the group had dinner with the “recipient of my kidney and his husband”. He added: “Families come in all shapes and sizes. Ours is pretty special.”

Sims shared in a later tweet that he had also seen the recipient, Alan, and his husband, John, while he was “walking through the city to my office”. He described the two men as a “perfectly normal, healthy, happy couple sitting in the sun enjoying each other’s company. It was perfection!”

CUTEST COUPLE EVER? We think so and we’re loving the new season of Love, Victor.

GONE TOO SOON Rest in peace Alex Riley. Jack Reagan wrote on Twitter: The death of porn star Alex Riley at such a young age has hit home as my bf has some connections to the porn industry. Just remember to hug your friends and loved ones often. Love you all.

Queerty: Friends, fans and fellow gay adult industry insiders of Alex Riley were stunned to learn this week about the young performer’s death at the age of 22. Many who knew him (and we would imagine some who didn’t but knew his work) have kicked in to help Riley’s family with funeral costs after his boyfriend, fellow performer Tyler Brown (aka Jacob Hansen), set up a GoFundMe page.

By all accounts, Riley was beloved within the gay adult industry, winning awards at multiple events including GayVN’s Best Newcomer in 2020.

Hansen shared photos of the couple and expressed his love, writing, “To all of Alex’s friends and fans.. on Monday I got a phone call from Alex’s best friend that Alex passed away early Sunday Morning. Rest In peace babe you will always be part of me no matter where my life takes me.”

BACK IT UP right here boo.

ANYONE ELSE DO THIS? Guilty.

PULSE BILL A bill that would designate Orlando, FL’s Pulse nightclub, the site a 2016 mass shooting that left 49 people dead and the LGBTQ community in shock and sadness, as a national memorial won approval in the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday. “Orlando Strong is more than just a slogan, it is a promise to support each other and to never forget those we lost and those who were injured on that tragic night. By establishing Pulse as a national memorial, we will honor their memories and remind ourselves of that promise,” said Rep. Val Demings.

Demings co-sponsored HR 49 alongside fellow Florida Representatives Darren Soto and Stephanie Murphy. Flanked by photos of the 49 victims, Demings continued, “My bishop once called the Pulse nightclub a place for late night fellowship, a place for fun, laughter, family, and friendship. These are such fundamental things. We know this now more than ever after the pandemic. We see just how precious these things truly are.”

The bill, HR 49, would make Pulse nightclub a “non-affiliated” national memorial, meaning it wouldn’t be owned and operated by the National Park Service and wouldn’t require federal funds. Instead, the memorial would be operated independently by the onePULSE Foundation, a nonprofit led by Pulse owner Barbara Poma whose goal is to establish a National Pulse Memorial & Museum.

Above: a rendering of the proposed memorial.

“We owe it to those we lost, to honor their memories by dedicating a national memorial at Pulse. A memorial that reflects the same love, acceptance, and spirit of community that embodied the victims and that embodies the LGBTQ community at large,” Murphy said. “By taking this important step America is telling the world that we will never let hate win, that we won’t forget the victims, and that we will fight to ensure no community will ever go through something like this again.”

STOP CALLING THEM KARENS Author Robert Jones Jr. aka The Son of Baldwin says: Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez kept her cool and her professionalism, but part of me wishes she went full Bronx on some Tremont from the 80s. Because nah, you not just gonna roll up on me popping mad shit and me not give you the smoke you was begging for.

Imagine being Congresswoman Greene and walking through the halls of government and being proud to show the whole fucking world that you were raised by Oscar the Grouch.

She the type to start beef and then when you square up, she leaps into “white woman in danger mode.”

Stop calling these women “Karens” and start calling them what they are: Plantation Mistresses. KKK Empresses. Racists.
