The Fabulous Kathryn Hanh will Return as Agatha Harkness in New Disney+ Series: CONFIRMED

Actress Kathryn Hanh, whose portrayal of Agnes/Agatha Harkness was the breakaway star of Disney+’s WandaVision, has been confirmed to be reprising the role in the upcoming Agatha: House of Harkness.
Marvel/Disney made the announcement as part of its Disney+ Day 2021 event Friday.
Marvel.com: WandaVision’s Jac Schaefer returns as head writer and executive producer and Emmy-nominee Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness for a brand new Disney+ series.

Harkness will reveal more about the character first introduced in Marvel Studios’ WandaVision. Schaefer, who served as head writer and executive producer on WandaVision, returns for Harkness. Be sure to hide all dogs named Sparky.

Hahn has said she ad libbed much of the more provocative dialogue and added a playfulness to the character not written in the script but that endeared her to fans.

“I would keep turning to Lizzie and Paul [WandaVision’s producers] during the making of this and be, like, ‘I can’t believe that this is my entrance into the Marvel world,” Hahn told Vanity Fair.
“In terms of whatever rules I thought would be in place and whatever preconceived notions I had of Marvel, that just went out the window,” Hahn revealed. “So of course, I was in an ’80s outfit, making sex jokes — that makes total sense in this world.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up about their decision to cast Hahn as Agnes, noting that everything happened unexpectedly. “It was a rare general meeting, which we don’t usually have a lot of time to do, but Kathryn came in and sat down with Luis D’Esposito,” Feige recalled. “At exactly that same time, we were sitting in that writer’s room trying to think of who to play Agnes. It probably took five seconds for somebody to say, ‘Wait, what about Kathryn? She was in yesterday.’”

An excerpt of the bio of the comic-book character she’s based on reads: Agatha Harkness is one of Earth’s most powerful witches, and lives for centuries, her aging slowed thanks to magical means. She becomes the governess to the First Family’s son Franklin Richards and tutor to Wanda Maximoff, AKA Scarlet Witch.
