Stephen Colbert Corners John Mulaney on Whether His Anxiety Prevents Him from Fully Knowing People: WATCH

Share

Stephen Colbert and John Mulaney get in a conversation about Mulaney’s anxiety problems after Colbert offered Mulaney cup of coffee on last night’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

After thinking for a few moments, Mulaney recalls his desired to be liked as steaming from entertaining his parents from an early age, and feeling the need to be funny to be liked by people.

“Do you think you’ll ever get to the point that you’ll be comfortable just knowing you’ll be liked for you?” Colbert asks.

After some banter, Mulaney summarizes, “If there’s a hell, it’s an encyclopedia and you can just look up whatever everyone thought about you. And if there is a heaven it’s a wikipedia and you can just change that.”

Mulaney, whose comedy special John Mulaney and The Sack Lunch Bunch is a huge hit on Netflix, joins Colbert for an exploration of their various insecurities and how they influence their comedy.
