The staff writer at Saturday Night Live’s  2020 Netflix special 3 In the Morning is among the funniest stand-up acts in recent memory and her 2021 HBO talk show Pause with Sam Jay was renewed for a second season.

Many of her funniest and sweetest bits and moments from both her stand-up and talk show revolve around her 15 year relationship with her fem girlfriend interior designer Yanise Monét and now Jay has proposed to her.

Jay posted on Instagram Saturday: I told you when we first started kicking it I was gonna marry you … it took some time, some mistakes and a whole lotta patience… but mostly it took an intense love. I have never felt about any one the way I feel about you. You are truly the love of my life and I am so thankful that you said yes. We getting married nigga! @vanity.vixen We in it to win it. Ps this ninja turtle was the perfect touch. We the BEST!

Speaking to People magazine last year Jay said, “”We were always friends. And I think over time, just being connected to one another and not being able to break that connection, a person just becomes family to you. So even when we weren’t necessarily dating, I always felt she was a person who was going to always be in my life.”

In her Netflix special 3 In the Morning,  Jay jokes about a flight they took, during which Monét expected her to carry all the bags. “She forgets, I’m not a man. … I don’t have any chivalry, I don’t give a f—,” she quips in the special.

The lovable teasing is just as present offstage. “We argue a lot and wipe boogies on each other,” Jay jokes. “It’s very immature, but I think we also take care of one another. She prays for me a lot. That’s a big showing of love, and she sages me a lot. So I take that as an action of love, for sure. And I pay for stuff.”

Congratulations ladies, we wish you a long and loving future and we can’t wait for season two of Pause.
