SONIC FOX aka Dominique  McLean has been making waves since before being crowned best esports player at The Game Awards in 2018 where he delivered a heartfelt and moving speech about being LGBTQ.

McLean finished that speech with the crowd pleaser:

“I’m gay, black, a furry—pretty much everything a Republican hates.”

Now McClean’s made history, raising $22,000 for the LGBTQ youth charity The Trevor Project, which advocates for LGBT+ young people and runs a confidential suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth.

McLean raised the money during a three-day Twitch livestream.

According to Pink News, “fans donated more than $22,000 over the course of the three-day livestream, as he played through the story modes of Mortal Kombat 9, 10 and 11, as well as Injustice 1 and 2.”

Key donation thresholds saw SonicFox writing messages like “trans rights” on his chest, before shaving his moustache after smashing the $20,000 donations barrier.

After concluding his three-day stream, SonicFox tweeted: “We did it everybody! Together, we raised 22,150$ for the Trevor Project in 72 Hours.

“This will be a very special moment in my life for years to come, and I hope to do things like this more often. Thank you all for this very magical moment. TRANS RIGHTS!!!!”

The Trevor Project said: “Thank you so much for supporting our life-saving work and being a role model for LGBTQ youth in the gaming community! ❤️????????????????
