Pernicious Buttigieg Misquote about Obama that Went Viral is Corrected by Journalist

Los Angeles Times reporter Evan Halper, who misquoted Pete Buttigieg as saying, “The failures of the Obama era help explain how we got Trump,” stepped up and corrected his mistake quickly, which was praised by Buttigieg today.
The misquote, which Halper blamed on a “noisy recording at a loud rally,” should have been transcribed as “failures of the old normal.”
The original misquote had gone viral on Twitter, causing a negative Buttigieg hashtag to trend.
