Meet the 19 Year-Old Who Blackmailed a Man He Met on Grindr Over Risqué Pics

19 year-old Joseph Cordiner of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, in England, threatened to send a photo of a man in  his underwear  that he solicited over the dating app Grindr, to the victims’ boss if he didn’t pay him hundreds of pounds.

According to the Mirror U.K., “A teenager blackmailed a man he met on the gay dating app Grindr by threatening to send a photo to his boss. Joseph Cordiner received a photograph of the victim in his underwear after sharing a snap of genitals with him. The 19-year-old then scared his target by telling him he would send the lewd snap to his boss. The terrified victim paid up £300, and then a further £400 after the teenager made the threat. But when Cordiner demanded a “final instalment” of £500, he called the police.Depute Fiscal Lynne MacVicar told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “On the evening of August 30, 2018, the complainer was within his home address browsing the dating site and engaged in conversation with the accused.”

The Evening Express said:Joseph Cordiner, 19,  threatened to send the image of the man in his underwear to his boss if he didn’t drop off cash for him to collect.The terrified victim, who had got talking to the teen on online dating site Grindr, paid up £300, and then a further £400.Cordiner, of North Street, Inverurie, pled guilty to extortion and attempted extortion. Defence agent Debbie Ginniver asked for sentence to be deferred for reports and reserved mitigation.

Sheriff Margaret Hodge deferred sentence until next month.
