James McAvoy wants to play the younger Jean-Luc Picard on Paramount Plus’ hit show Star Trek: Picard.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, McAvoy discussed his recent stint as a starship captain in a homemade Star Trek parody.

When Fallon asked him if there’s a world where he would ever play a young Picard, McAvoy replied, “Jimmy, that is the only world that exists in which I will play Jean-Luc Picard.” He then continued with a laugh, “If they don’t hire me, I’m gonna make it on my phone… I’m calling it right now, I’m doing the virtual lockdown equivalent of rubbing my scent all over Patrick’s face and saying this territory is mine. All the other bald actors can fuck off, it’s me.”

He holds firm, saying, “Any other world is just an alternate reality in a bad episode of Star Trek. It’s happening!”

It doesn’t sound like McAvoy will take “no” for an answer and plans to portray Picard one way or another, saying, “If they don’t hire me I’m going to make it on my phone! I’m calling that right now.”

McAvoy in the image above certainly looks the part and even bears an uncanny resemblance to Tom Hardy’s portrayal of a young clone of Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis.
