Is Hayden Christensen the Hero of ‘Rise of Skywalker’?!

Share

The last time we saw Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, he’d been left for dead by his friend and mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi and thought that he’d murdered Padme, the love of his life with his signature force choking ability. He was also being fitted for cybernetic parts for most of his body and essentially imprisoned in the dark knight’s armor of Darth Vader.

The Express UK reportsStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will see Anakin’s Force ghost destroy Emperor Palpatine, according to our new fan theory. Anakin’s Force ghost is certainly around with Yoda – who we saw in The Last Jedi – and Obi-Wan, who could be heard speaking to Rey in The Force Awakens. In fact, an official tie-in book called The Secrets of the Jedi, confirms that sequel trilogy Luke has been communing with the trio of Force ghosts last seen at the end of Return of the Jedi.

If you recall from Episode One: The Phantom Menace, Anakin was believed by the Jedi council to be the embodiment of the prophecy of “he who would balance to the force.”

By the time of the original trilogy, Obi-Wan came to believe that the prophecy would be fulfilled by Anakin’s son Luke. Vader was eventually redeemed in Return of the Jedi after he sacrificed himself to save his son and  destroyed Palpatine. However, with the sequel trilogy adding to the canon and Palpatine now being found to have survived somehow and to be the main villain in Rise, perhaps the  prophecy was never fulfilled.

Meanwhile, at the premiere of Rise at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood last night, Christensen was generous with his time with fans and seemed thrilled to be back for the conclusion of the Skywalker family saga. Christensen even posed with new figures of himself and Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan doll, saying “This time, Anakin Skywalker has the high ground! As Christensen played with the 1:6 scale Dark Side Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi by Slideshow Collectibles.”

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens worldwide on Friday.
