DC Animated TeenTitans/Young Justice by Real_chromic7sky.

WILLY WONKA is getting a new origin story from Warner Bros. starring Timothée Chalamet. Deadline: “Chalamet is ready to head to a world of pure imagination as the Oscar-nominated actor is set to star as the iconic inventor and chocolate maker in Warner Bros and the Roald Dahl Story Co.’s Wonka. Based on characters created by Roald Dahl, the story will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures prior to opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory. Sources also tell Deadline that Wonka will mark the first time Chalamet gets to show off his singing and dancing skills with several musical numbers set to appear in the film. He’s been the top choice for some time but scheduling was a hurdle that had to be overcome as training for those numbers is included in the prep for this film.”

This marks the third time WB has taken on the Wonka story, with the previous versions being adaptations of Dahl’s classic novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The first one, in 1971, starred Gene Wilder as Wonka, and the second in 2005 starred Johnny Depp in the role. For Chalamet, the Oscar nominee has avoided the tentpole pic over the years with his upcoming Dune adaptation being his first true venture into the genre. This film will also give him a possible franchise was well.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE that would be standup comedian, writer, actress, the hilarious and relatable narrator of “Netflix’s biggest competition show ever” Too Hot To Handle (season 2 premieres June 23^rd), Desiree Burch.

Burch is also the newly announced contestant on the UK’s uber-popular comedy game series Taskmasker.

The award-winning comedian recently co-starred in Comedy Central UK’s series Drunk History: Black Stories and is also the host of Amazon’s official podcast Escape The Underground Railroad, based on the Amazon series The Underground Railroad. She has appeared in dozens of comedy shows including Live at the Apollo (BBC), The Jonathan Ross Show, and the Comedy Central special Desiree Burch Live. With an illustrious international career in comedy under her belt, this funny girl is ready to make her mark.

But the comics industry is really pulling out all the stops.

DC will be the first to hit newsstands with the 80 page title DC Pride featuring queer headliners: Batwoman, Aqualad, Midnighter and Apollo, Harley Quinn, and John Constantine. Pride will also include full-page pinups and profiles of LGBT characters from DCU TV shows Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. In addition queer artists Jen Bartel, Kris Anka, Travis G. Moore, and Paulina Ganucheau have designed Pride-themed variant covers for some of DC’s top titles, including Batman, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, and Wonder Woman. that will rollout through  the entire month of June.

Marvel will release Marvel’s Voices: Pride on June 23rd in anticipation of Gay Pride weekend and many of the bigger metropolitan celebrations, featuring their prominent gay heroes: Iceman, Northstar, Mystique, The Runaways’ Nico Minoru and Karolina Dean, and Young Avengers’ Wiccan and Hulkling.

Marvel is so far ahead in this game it’s almost not fair. First they have Wiccan, who is quickly gaining ground as one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters.

And he’s gay, the son of the Scarlet Witch and the Vision, and also the grandson of Magneto.

LINDSAY LOHAN is returning to acting. Variety: [Lohan] who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will soon star in a yet-to-be-titled Netflix holiday rom-com. The streamer has made a robust business out of Christmas fare, and its original movies such as “Jingle Jangle,” “A Christmas Prince,” “The Christmas Chronicles” and “The Princess Switch” (inspired by Lohan’s “The Parent Trap”) have become instant (and repeatable) holiday classics.

In this new movie, Lohan will play a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” (according to the logline), who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.
