Shang-Chi is a hit.
Deadline: Disney is proving they can open a Marvel movie anywhere on the calendar, even during a pandemic, as Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings posted the third-best opening day during the pandemic with $29.6M (just behind F9‘s $29.9M), with what will feasibly be the biggest Labor Day opening weekend of all-time with $75M-$85M+ over four-days.

On a three-day measure, Shang-Chi is estimated to bring in $67.8M, which is the third-best debut during Covid times after Black Widow‘s $80.3M and F9‘s $70M.

“One of the reasons I no longer really jive with the hookup app scene is that, for me, the best part of sex is the anticipation of it – the tension and release. The talking for weeks. The being friends for years. Knocking feet under the dinner table.”

Like, orgasms are nice but they feel hollow to me when they’re obtained easily. I want to be invested. I want to care that the other person is having a good time.
Tbh I don’t know that I’m all that good at being an offline slut.

BRINGING SAND TO THE BEACH Timothée Chalamet and Dune cast members at the Venice Film Festival Friday.
Deadline: Denis Villeneuve’s Dune had its official world premiere here at the Venice Film Festival on Friday evening and had the Sala Grande reverberating like a thropter as it gave the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic a seven-minute standing ovation. Deadline was present and timed the applause, which ended only after the director humbly indicated that it was time to go.
In his review, Deadline’s Pete Hammond called the film a “spectacular and defining version of the sci-fi cult classic.”
Those in town include Timothée Chalamet, who plays protagonist Paul Atreides, along with fellow stars Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård and Chen Chang.

BARA BOYS “Paint.” By GreenTea.
DEAD BOY DETECTIVES Neil Gaiman’s Dead Boy Detectives is coming to HBO Max. Variety: The one-hour series would follow the Boys — Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine — who decided not to enter the afterlife in order to stay on earth and investigate crimes involving the supernatural.
Sebastian Croft and Ty Tennant are set to play Rowland and Paine respectively in the upcoming third season of Doom Patrol, though they are not believed to be attached to the pilot at this time. Should the project go to series, it would be the latest of Gaiman’s works to get adapted for the screen. Starz currently airs American Gods, while Netflix is preparing to release the final season of Lucifer and the series adaptation of The Sandman. Gaiman currently has an overall deal at Amazon, with that streamer having aired the series version of Good Omens. A second season is on the way for that show while Amazon is also prepping a series based on Anansi Boys.
Dead Boy Detectives also marks the latest HBO Max project for Berlanti Productions. The company also produces both Doom Patrol and The Flight Attendant at the streamer as well as the DC series with multiple other projects in the works.

I’ma say this again.
A hurricane.
Went from New Orleans.
To New York.
OVER LAND.
And had enough juice to spawn tornadoes and shut down THE WHOLE SUBWAY.
But this is just normal and we don’t need to mitigate climate change in any way.— C. G. Brown (@brokenbeatnik) September 2, 2021
