GAY ASIAN AND PROUD Artist Danny Barry posted this anti-hate piece on Instagram. “For a long time, Asians have been a victim of racism. Because we’re smaller. Because we’re more quiet. Because it’s easy to say “No Asian”. They eat our food, exploit our culture, but we’re almost invisible as people. This pandemic only makes things worse and these attacks need to stop. These hate crimes need to end.” #stopasianhate #stopasianhatecrimes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wil Wheaton wishes Jim Parsons many more. “Jim Parsons is one of the most wonderful humans I’ve ever known. It was such a privilege, and such a gift, to work with him for so many years, even if it was never as much as I wanted. Today is his birthday. Happy birthday, Jim! I hope you got to spend it with people you love.”

12 ANTI-VAXXERS are responsible for two-thirds of anti-vaccine content online: reports The Hill: They’ve been dubbed the “Disinformation Dozen”: 12 individuals or organizations are tied to up to 65 percent of anti-vaccine content circulating on major social media networking sites, according to an analysis of popular anti-vaccine content on Facebook and Twitter.

“Disinformation has become a direct threat to public health,” said Imran Ahmed, CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), which released the report in partnership with the Anti-Vax Watch, in a release. “In the midst of a global pandemic, the Anti-Vaccine Industry has executed a targeted campaign to mislead Americans about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. Social media is enabling anti-vaxxers to recruit millions of Americans and indoctrinate them with fear and doubt. If Big Tech companies don’t act now, the pandemic will be prolonged, and more lives will be lost.”

EMERGENCY CURFEW has been imposed by Miami Beach. The New York Times: One day after the spring break oasis of South Beach descended into chaos, with the police struggling to control overwhelming crowds and making scores of arrests, officials in Miami Beach decided on Sunday to extend an emergency curfew for up to three weeks. The city’s decision to send police personnel in riot gear into the entertainment district on Saturday, only a few hours after the curfew was announced, was heavily criticized, especially by local Black leaders. They noted that many of the revelers dispersed by the police were young African-Americans.

“It’s the same group of kids that are in South Padre Island right now, except those kids happen to be white,” said Stephen Hunter Johnson, chairman of Miami-Dade’s Black Affairs Advisory Board, referring to the popular spring break destination in Texas.

DINNER FOR BREAKFAST How did shrimp tails end up in a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal?!  When comedian Jensen Karp came across the horrifying find in his morning bowl he didn’t know what to do. The New York Times: As he began filling a second bowl, “something plopped out of the box,” he said in an interview. “I picked it up, and I was like, ‘This is clearly a shrimp tail.’”

He looked in the bag and saw what appeared to be another tail. Both were encrusted with sugar. Mr. Karp, a 41-year-old comedian and writer in Los Angeles, took a picture of the contents and sent it to his wife, Danielle Fishel Karp, who played Topanga Lawrence-Matthews on Boy Meets World. He sent a form submission email to General Mills, which began selling Cinnamon Toast Crunch in 1984, documenting what he’d found. Soon after, he posted a picture of the items on Twitter. Eventually, Cinnamon Toast Crunch reached out to Mr. Karp through its brand Twitter account. “After further investigation with our team that closely examined the image, it appears to be an accumulation of the cinnamon sugar that sometimes can occur when ingredients aren’t thoroughly blended,” the statement from Cinnamon Toast Crunch read. “We assure you that there’s no possibility of cross contamination with shrimp.”

That didn’t sit well with Mr. Karp, and he responded with frustration.

Mr. Karp is frustrated with how General Mills handled the situation. “All you have to do is say, ‘This is such a bummer, we’re going to look into it. We’re going to recall the ones from your Costco.’ Like, it’s such an easy PR thing to do,” he said. “But instead, they wanted to basically gaslight me.”

This is not General Mills’ first shrimp rodeo. In 2011, the company sued a Michigan blueberry packer after a shipment — which was intended for future use in blueberry scones — was found to be contaminated with pieces of shrimp. “Upon further inspection of the remaining cases of Lot #210082 Adkin blueberries, GMI discovered one shrimp and a shrimp tail on the outside of the cases,” the suit read. “The tainted blueberries were unsuitable for use in any GMI product, much less the intended product.”

For now, Mr. Karp said, his main concern is consumer safety. “I just want you to fix it, you know, for other people,” he said, citing the possibility that shrimp could contaminate the cereal of people with shellfish allergies, or who keep kosher. “I’m not even like trying to say like, ‘Be better,’ or whatever. I’m literally just saying, ‘Go investigate it.’”
