RAISING DION is coming back for a second season at Netflix. According to Shadow and Act, “Raising Dion has been renewed for a second season at Netflix. The news was announced by the streaming giant on Thursday. While it is unclear if the new season will air in 2020, production on the new season will begin this year. The series, produced by Michael B. Jordan, stars Ja’Siah Young, Alisha Wainwright, Jason Ritter and Jazmyn Simon. Based on Dennis Liu’s comic book and viral short film of the same name, which revolves around a Black mother who discovers her young son has multiple and continually changing abilities, Raising Dion follows the story of Nicole Reese who raises her son, Dion, after the death of her husband, Mark (Jordan). The usual dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion manifests several magical, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend, Pat (Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.”

BERNIE BROS are rolling in it. Among Democrats, Bernie Sanders appears to lead the pack in fundraising, with a $34.5 million 4th quarter haul. Two other campaigns have also formally declared their 4th quarter amounts. Pete Buttigieg raised an impressive $24.7 million, and Andrew Yang came in at $16.5 million. Earlier reports saw a drop in fundraising for Elizabeth Warren though final numbers have not been announced. Biden’s campaign said this would be his largest fundraising quarter yet.

Time says, “Countless American students and teachers searching for material on the historical roles of people with diverse gender and sexual identities. And increasingly, that material is moving into the classroom, with five states having announced in 2019 that LGBTQ history must be taught in public schools. California became the first state to require schools to teach LGBTQ history in 2011, with the first K-8 textbooks approved to meet new state standards emerging six years later. Even so, mechanisms for enforcement, funding and teacher training are often unclear.”
