Baker Boys, the newest drama from Thailand’s GMMTV, has something for everyone. Cute guys, deserts, action, comedy, drama, all centering around a mystery — did I mention the cute guys?

Baker Boys official promo from GMMT staring Pluem Purim (Krathing), Singto Prachaya (Weir), Lee Thanat (Punn) and Foei Patara (Pooh)

Premiering on the company’s official youtube in just over 24 hours the first episode had already garnered almost 300,000 views, and the series second episode (a surprise drop on November 25th isn’t far behind with just under 150,000 views in less than 2 hours.

Singto Praychya (who was ordained last month as a monk) is arguably one of the biggest stars in Thailand stars as Weir, a pastry chef who calls himself the Gay Conqueror as there isn’t a man in the world (gay, straight, or otherwise) he can’t make fall in love with him.

Baker Boys is based on the popular Japanese Manga Antique Bakery.

This  is the third live-action adaptation following a Japanese version (2001) and a Korean version (2008).

There’s also an anime (all previous releases keep the same title as the original manga) and focuses on the professional and personal lives of four men who work in the popular Sweet Day bakery.

In addition to Singto the series also stars Lee Thanat as Punn, the son of a billionaire and owner of Sweet day, Pluem Purin as Krathing a boxer forced to make a life change after a career-ending diagnosis, and Foei Patara as Pooh, Punn’s personal bodyguard and (if previews are to be believed) Weir’s love interest.

Jamie Juthapich portrays Monet, an investigative journalist who is trying to uncover the truth about the mysterious abductions and deaths of children around the bakery.  Each episode is themed after a specific dessert for which GMMTV is also releasing recipe videos.

The series theme song “Sweet Day” is also dessert-themed and something I can’t get out of my head.

Baker Boys will air Wednesdays on GMMTV25 in Bangkok (Tuesday in the US) and be uploaded on their official Youtube page on Wednesdays in the US (Thursday in Bangkok).
