THE LA LGBT CENTER IS FORCED TO STOP STD TESTING The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Dr. Barbara Ferrer at the Los Angeles Department of Public Health have cut their funding to the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center. This impact will prevent the LA LGBTQ Center from offering free STD treatment and prevention efforts, which will cease to offer these services effective 01/28/2020. Call your supervisor and let them know how you feel about their decision @ 213-974-1411 and Dr. Ferrer @ 213-240-8144. Their decision effectively fosters the spread of STI’s and HIV throuought Los Angeles. Stand up and be heard. CALL!!

According to The Advocate, “The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted last year to expand the county’s STI-testing resources for at-risk communities. However, according to the center, the DPH cut its funds by $1 million from 2019 to 2020. The county will also begin charging health partners like the center for its lab costs. According to the center, beginning Tuesday, this will end “almost all” free tests for HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis. The center is urging concerned Angelenos to call their county supervisor at (213) 974-1411 and Ferrer at (213) 240-8144 to demand the funding be restored. Its suggested voice mail message: “I demand that the Board of Supervisors take action to restore this lifesaving funding for the LGBT community. Our community has faced the horrors of what happens when access to health care is withheld because of bigotry and stigma. This action by DPH is putting our lives at risk.”

The company announced a licensing deal with US real estate developer True North Studio and GSD group to build eight hotels in the US. Construction will begin in Phoenix in mid-2020, with more hotels to come in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle. The “video game-themed destination” will offer gaming playgrounds that include VR and AR games, and some locations will have venues and studios to accommodate e-sports events. Atari says the hotels will have meeting rooms, co-working spaces, restaurants, bars, a bakery, a movie theater, and a gym. The company says it’ll be a destination for families and business travelers, which lends itself to a hilarious image of a businessman trying to print something in the meeting room while a Fortnite tournament happens in the next room.”
