HOLLYWOOD Ryan Murphy’s next Netflix series will premier May 1st. Deadline reports, “[Hollywood] follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown — no matter the cost. Murphy, Ian Brennan and Janet Mock wrote the project, in which each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day. The seven-episode series exposes and examines decades-old power dynamics, and what the entertainment landscape might look like if they had been dismantled.”

DEMOCRATIC DEBATE last night summed up in one perfect Tweet by comedian Connor Malbeuf:

NIRVANA‘s Kurt Cobain was born on this day in Hoquiam, Washington in 1967. From The Writer’s Almanac: “Three weeks before his high school graduation, he dropped out, got a job as a janitor, and started playing in local rock bands. He eventually settled on one band, and they saved up $606 dollars to record their first album, Bleach (1989), under the name Nirvana. People liked it, and the group signed to a major label for their next album, Nevermind (1991), which has sold more than 26 million copies. Kurt Cobain became a celebrity, which he hated. He became addicted to heroin, and in 1994, he committed suicide at his home in Seattle.”

Fans took to Twitter to mourn Cobain and celebrate his life as well as his ahead of his time progressive views summed up here: “I’m definitely a feminist. I’m f*cking disgusted by the way women are still treated” “If any of you in any way hate homosexuals, people of color, or women, please, do this one favor for us, don’t come to our shows & don’t buy our records.”

THROWBACK THURSDAY Pete Buttigieg to Mike Pence: “Your Quarrel, Sir, Is With My Creator.”

BEFORE TITANIC Was Leo even famous? Twitter wants to know.

ENDORSEMENT The San Diego Tribune endorses Pete Buttigieg ahead the California primary on March 3rd, saying in part: “Buttigieg is best suited to beat Trump because of his centrist policies, his military experience, his (admittedly small-scale) executive experience and the enthusiasm he’s inspired, with better fundraising and national polling, bigger campaign crowds and more news coverage than Klobuchar. He has shown he can manage a national campaign successfully. And in a nation that only legalized same-sex marriage in 2015, his message of generational change could actually inspire change.”

A GAY TikTok user’s powerful tribute to his straight best friend has gone viral, garnering 1.7 million views since it was posted on Twitter on Sunday. “Straight boys take notes,” Adrian Alvarez wrote above the tribute to his best friend Hector. Set to the theme song from the 2009 Disney film Up, the tribute features a montage of photos and videos of the pair.

Towleroad says: “This is me and hector,” Alvarez writes. “Alot of ppl including our closest friends thought we were dating. But he’s straight [and I’m] gay.”

“His dating life was not the best cuz every girl thought he was gay or dating me,” he writes. “He was harassed and questioned about his sexuality all the time. But he didnt care. [He was on] a quest to make sure that gays felt safe and [in comfort] with their own skin. Hector u mean so much to me. I love you bro.”

GAY PROBLEMS When ‘Being gay is not enough’: Buttigieg’s candidacy divides LGBTQ Democrats. Says NBC News: “While Buttigieg certainly has his fair share of queer supporters — including several LGBTQ officials and a number of the country’s largest gay advocacy groups — his historic candidacy has contributed to long-simmering tensions within the community boiling into public view. While the policies of the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, play a part, the tensions appear to center on power, privilege and representation within the diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.”

LAUV DELIVERS ANTHEMIC NEW SINGLE Modern LonelinessPop visionary Lauv has today delivered an anthemic new single for the technology driven generation: “Modern Loneliness”.   The power ballad is both a statement and a commentary on our current society, where we are increasingly “alone together.” “Modern Loneliness” will be featured on Lauv’s highly anticipated upcoming album, ~how i’m feeling~, which is set for release on March 6, 2020.

Lauv says on the song, “This is my favorite song on the album and the most important song I feel I’ve ever made. There is a lot of loneliness out there. We all feel it. But there is also a lot of love waiting for us and I hope this song can be a catalyst for that.”
