YouTube Personality ReSet Sentenced to 18 months in Jail for Making Homeless Man Eat Oreos with Toothpaste Filling

The YouTube sensation had already faced a huge backlash from fans after paying 20 euros to a homeless man in Barcelona to eat toothpaste (as opposed to cream) filled Oreos.

The man vomited and became very ill following the encounter.

ReSet, who’s real name is Kanghua Ren, was 19 at the time he filmed the prank. “Maybe I’ve gone a bit far, but look at the positive side: This will help him clean his teeth,” Ren said in the video (since taken down). “I think he hasn’t cleaned them since he became poor.”

In an effort to make amends he found the man and gave him an addition 20 euros as well as paying the man’s daughter 300 euros not to file a lawsuit.

Because he made 2,000 euros from the video, the court is forcing Ren to pay the victim 20,000 euros for “moral damages,” Spanish media outlet El País reported.

Ren was found guilty of violating the moral integrity of the homeless man.

Being his first offense, Ren is unlikely to spend any actual time locked up. Even so, the judge prohibited him from using YouTube and other social media sites for the next five years reported El País.

Ren’s most recent video was published two weeks ago. He has more than 1.2 million subscribers and his videos have been viewed more than 111 million times.
