In case you missed it, last Wednesday, Todrick Hall released a Coronavirus remix that is the perfect gay anthem for the COVID-19 pandemic. The remake of his hit song “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels” is called “Mask, Gloves, Soap, Scrubs.”
Wrote Todrick: “Nina Simone once said ‘It’s an artist’s duty to reflect the times.’ I wrote this in four days because I noticed a lot of people were down and needing something to uplift them, make them smile and want to dance during this dark time. I by no means am attempting to diminish the severity of this pandemic, but trying to show that you can still be creative, still have fun and be fabulous from the comfort of your own home. I hope you enjoy, I hope it inspires you to dance (tag me, I will be watching and sharing) and I hope it brightens your day just a tad. Love you and all and please stay safe. We are going to get through this. Mwah”
A sample of the lyrics:
Mask, gloves, soap, scrub
Twinks, jocks, bears, cubs
Zoom is a new club
Six feet, no hugs
Still beat these mugs
Sick beat, got a rug
Joe Exotic is a thug
Kitty cat cat, tell me Carole Baskin
Where is the husband, everyone’s asking?
Stimulus check, everybody better cash in
Mask and gloves, yeah, that’s a new fashion
Girl, what did that girl just say?
I don’t go to work (work)
I don’t leave, I stay (stay)
I don’t care I eat, eat, eat, and sleep all day (okay)
And then I watch TV (yup)
That’s just the tea, hunty (yes ma’am)
Until they set us free (free)
Then Imma let you see
Watch it below.
