Shawn Mendes’ Opens Up His Heart and Soul in Upcoming Netflix Doc: WATCH

Share

Shawn Mendes first concert documentary, In Wonder, is coming to Netflix next month and the trailer wants you to really believe really badly that Mendes is just a regular guy.

The footage however, shot while on a 104 stop world tour, shows Mendes wrestling with the creative process and the anticipation of taking the stage while centering himself by realizing he’s living his dream and being present in the moment. “It feels like a dream,” he says.

He adds, “Oh yeah, I’m just a guy, and I love music.”

The documentary synopsis says that the films “follows Shawn Mendes’ journey toward self-discovery, after the physical and emotional demands of his rise, and his last world tour, pushed him towards a personal and musical reckoning.”
Mendes says, “This isn’t a story about a famous musician. This is a story about a guy growing up.”

Yet the 22-year-old former YouTube star is very aware that the world sees him as a musical superstar and perhaps invites the contradiction.  “If I tell the world I’m just a normal human, will they stop coming to my shows?” Mendes asks. “Maybe I should pretend I’m Superman for a little bit longer.”

Shawn Mendes: In Wonder will stream globally November 23rd on Netflix.
