Seth Rogen’s Next Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Will Be a Marijuana-Fueled Adults-Only ‘County Fair’

Actor Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller established the  Alzheimer’s organization Hilarity for Charity, in 2012–after Miller’s mother succumbed to the disease.. Since 2012, HFC has raised over $11 million and hosted 9 variety shows in Los Angeles and New York City.

Rogen even went to Washington D.C. in 2014 and ended up making the news when he called out the 16 US Senators who walked out, or failed to turn up to hear his heartfelt address on financing care for sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease.

Rogen is also known for having huge respect for cannabis, and this year he co-launched with a Canadian weed supplier, Houseplant, with film industry colleague Evan Goldberg.

Now, it looks like Rogen will combine these two passions — philanthropy and cannabis.

According to  Marijuana Moment reports, Rogen will be “the ringmaster at an adults-only charity carnival next month featuring comedians running game booths and marijuana aplenty.”

“First I should answer the question I assume many of you are asking, yes I’m aware this has nothing to do with the legalization of marijuana,” Rogen said. “In fact, if you can believe it, this concerns something that I find even more important.”

Proceeds from the event will once again go to organizations researching a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

“We here at Hilarity for Charity love to fight Alzheimer’s disease, but we also love rides, alcohol and weed! We also love trying to be good people so that in the event there is an afterlife, we don’t go to hell,” Rogen said in advance of the event, according to the cannabis publication.

Adam Devine, Ben Feldman, Andrew Rannells, Ilana Glazer, Casey Wilson, Kate Micucci, Nick Kroll, Regina Hall, Ike Barinholtz, Jeff Ross, Riki Lindhome, Tony Hawk and Anderson Paak have signed on for the event, according to Rolling Stone.

Last year’s event  on Netflix. also counted on the support of celebrities such as James Corden, Sarah Silverman, Jeff Goldblum and Tiffany Haddish.

There may be something more in Rogen’s idea to include cannabis in an Alzheimer’s fundraiser event. Namely, research exists that claims small doses of THC can slow the production of beta-amyloid proteins, which are assumed to be the main contributors to the progression of Alzheimer’s.
