Jen Ellis, the second grade teacher, and the woman behind Bernie Sanders’ mega-viral mittens says she has been overwhelmed with more than 12,000 orders for the mittens and she doesn’t have the time.
I made Bernie’s mittens as a gift a couple years ago. They are made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece (made from recycled plastic bottles). #BerniesMittens pic.twitter.com/lTXFJvVy9V

According to Jewish Insider: Ellis, who lives with her partner, Liz, and their kindergarten-age daughter who live in Essex Junction, Vermont, said, “she gave the mittens to Sanders as a gift five years ago, but has never met him, even though she is an admirer.”
“Thanks for all the interest in Bernie’s mittens! It truly has been an amazing and historic day! I’m so flattered that Bernie wore them to the inauguration. Sadly, I have no more mittens for sale. There are a lot of great crafters on ETSY who make them,” she Tweeted.
