It looks like another star of the Avengers has transformed into a real life superhero. A day on the heels of Chris Evans aka Captain America going after the organizers of Boston’s homophobic “Straight Pride” parade, Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man announced that he was launching a new foundation that would harness robotics and nanotechnology to clean up the planet. the Footprint Coalition, according to Variety, will begin operations by April 2020, with the stated aim of tidying up our home in the next decade.

Robert Downey Jr. at the premiere of Disney and Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, USA on April 23, 2018.

The actor made the announcement at Amazon’s Las Vegas based conference covering MARS, short for Machine learning, Automation, Robotics and Space. Downey Jr. didn’t explain how the Footprint Coalition would achieve its goals, or who it will partner with to achieve its aims. Downey Jr. mostly spoke about the benefits of AI—a subject he’s become thoroughly knowledgable about and will also be hosting of a documentary on the topic.

Nano technology is something that Stark Industry specializes in (in the Marvel Universe) and is part of Iron Man’s advanced arsenal.
