17 year-old hockey player Anthony Arnoni was voted homecoming king at East Leyden High School in Illinois, something he never thought would happen when he came out he says in a column for Outsports.
He says that he was inspired to come out by a YouTube video he saw by openly gay wrestler Dylan Geick.
Arsoni says, “I tried my absolute hardest to be like my peers and teammates in hopes that these feelings would go away. Once I got into my sophomore year, I had finally let this part of me invade my head. Once I accepted who I was and realized it wasn’t going to go away, that was all I could think about.”
