Florida Man Who Threatened to Wipe Out the Whole Gay Community in Tampa Is Apprehended

A man who is a registered sex offender has. been arrested for threats he made on social media and dating apps like Grindr and Scruff. The threats involved killing the gay community in Tampa, Florida.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Ralph Perkins, 50, was arrested in Tampa, Florida after police were alerted to the threats on Tuesday. He made the threats after being rejected on dating apps.

Ralph Perkins was arrested Wednesday on a charge of making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting. He is also a registered sex offender, according to state records, as a result of a 2004 arrest in Alabama.

“Perkins did not have any known immediate access to firearms and no weapons were confiscated during the arrest,” Tampa police spokesperson Eddy Durkin said in an email to the Tampa Bay Times. “However, we cannot predict what he would have done had he not been arrested.”

“I like to take a gun I like to wipe the whole gay community out in Tampa and then kill myself” and “That’s going to be my ultimate present to Tampa Florida is the annihilator the gay community before I kill myself,” according to police.

Tampa Police in a statement: “Tampa Police were made aware of a concerning conversation a complainant had on a dating app. After being rejected for an offer he made for companionship, the suspect, later identified as Ralph Perkins, posted threatening statements to the social media platform.

“Officers were able to quickly confirm Perkins identity and detectives immediately began an investigation.

“Once an arrest warrant was obtained, Tampa Police detectives, accompanied by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies, responded to Perkins’s house in the county.”

Perkins told a friend that he was dying from stomach cancer.
