Out actor Colton Haynes is returning to Arrow in the recurring role of Roy Harper for the show’s 8th and final season. The actor had previously been downgraded as a recurring character in season 7.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “We couldn’t have ended the show without having him back,” showrunner Beth Schwartz said.

Earlier this year the actor became public about his battle with anxiety and drugs.

The 8th and final season of Arrow premieres on Tuesday, October 15th at 9pm ET on The CW.
