Bette Midler Matches Pink’s $500K for Aussie Fires; Slams Sean Hannity, Rupert Murdoch, and FOX News for Spreading Lies

Bette Midler took to Twitter to announce that she’s going match her friend Pink’s $500,000 donation directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines.

Midler Re-Tweeted Pink’s original message with her own, “I stand with you @PINK. I will match you, & while I’m at it, what do you think #RupertMurdoch will be doing for the country of his birth? He recently earned $71 billion from his sale of #20thCenturyFox to #Disney. HIS PAPERS ARE DENYING there is such a thing as #ClimateChange.”

Midler had previously slammed FOX’s Sean Hannity for reporting false claims that the fires were started by arsonists. Saying, “The viral false claim that nearly 200 arsonists are behind the Australia fires, explained vox.com/2020/1/9/21058 HANNITY SHOULD BE ARRESTED.”

According to VOX, “A false claim that a big wave of arson is driving Australia’s raging bushfires has gone viral this week on social media, particularly among climate skeptics grasping for a counter-narrative about the wildfire disaster. Donald Trump Jr. and Sean Hannity were among the most prominent tweeters this week of the allegation that close to 200 people in Australia have been charged with arson for deliberately lighting brushfires. Other people on the right, as well as bots trying to amplify climate skepticism, jumped on board with the hashtag #ArsonEmergency.”
