Share

Two Arab Israeli  brothers, who run their own plumbing company in Haifa, Israel  wouldn’t hear of it.

The brothers,  Simon and Salim Matari, had finished fixing a major leak at the home of Rosa Meir. While repairing they talked with the 95 year-old Meir, wherein they learned that she was a Holocaust survivor.

According to the Times of Israel, “When we got there, we saw there was a large blast of water and we started fixing it,” said Simon. “At some stage, while working, my brother Salim started to talk to Rosa about her life. She told us she’s 95, a Holocaust survivor, and that she has a daughter.

“Her life story touched my heart. At that moment, I decided I won’t take a cent from her.”

The bill’s amount was NIS (New Israeli Shekel) 1,000, or about $300.
