PRE-STONEWALL HEROES

COLLECTION PLATE CALL BOYS Police have accused a Pennsylvania priest of stealing nearly $100,000 from parishioners, giving at least some of the money to men he met on Grindr reports Out magazine.

The Chester County District Attorney has accused Joseph McLoone of stealing $98,405.50 in donations and church funds since 2011. According to police, McLoone opened a secret checking account and funnelled money from the church for his own personal use.

Among McLoone’s alleged expenditures was $1,200 paid to an inmate in a New York correctional facility. According to the criminal complaint, McLoone told investigators that he met the inmate on Grindr for a sexual relationship.

That’s in addition to 17 other payments, totaling $1,720, to Grindr acquaintances.

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE may have been too aptly named, says My New Plaid Pants. I”‘m real worried about Terminator: Dark Fate having its own, dare I say it, I dare, dark fate. There’ve been whispers of production troubles, and that first trailer was not the one. Normally I wouldn’t care — Genisys was so lousy and never showed us Jai Courtney’s butt, thereby breaking my will — but with Mackenzie Davis starring this time around, and with Linda Hamilton back, it’s hard not to. Anyway I think the new trailer they released last week is a bit of an improvement…”

TINA TURNER IS LIVING HER BEST LIFE The New York Times reports, “Tina Turner is having the time of her life.A Swiss chateau. A Broadway musical all about her. And absolutely nothing she has to do. She was the symbol of rock ’n’ roll stamina for 50 years. Her “Proud Mary” was 175 percent longer than the original, and John Fogerty didn’t even dance. She became a star with Ike Turner in her 20s, escaped his abuse in her 30s, fought her way up the pop charts in her 40s, toured the world through her 60s, and now she would like to sleep in.”

HOW FLORIDA SAID NO TO $70 MILLION FOR ITS HIV CRISIS According to The Guardian, From 2015 to 2017, Florida was forced to return to the federal government $54m in unspent grants for combating HIV – due to an apparently deliberate failure on the part of state health bosses to secure legislative permission to spend such desperately needed funds. Furthermore, in 2015 Scott’s administration directly blocked two US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant applications that would probably have won Miami and Broward counties, which have HIV diagnosis rates among the highest in the US, approximately $16m.”

For Scott, refusing federal money was a bedrock principle. Fierce opposition to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was a signature issue of his 2010 campaign. In one of his first acts in office, he rejected more than $2bn for high-speed rail. He would turn away scores of millions of dollars in ACA grants.

Robert Pattinson Damsel film premiere, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA – 13 Jun 2018

ROB PATTINSON TALKS THE BATMAN and what it’s like working for Christopher Nolan over at IndieWire. Pattinson Got Furious Over The Batman Casting Leak, Embraces Fan Backlash and yes, he has asked his Tenet director Chris Nolan about playing the Dark Knight. Pattinson had been eyeing the Batman role for awhile because he had heard Reeves’ script focused on a younger version of Bruce Wayne. “I’d had Batman in my mind for a while,” he said. “It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt. He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him.”

Reeves agreed to a meeting with Pattinson after the script was finished, but the casting leak made the actor feel like all of the hard work he’d put in to be taken seriously by Reeves might be thrown out. “It was terrifying,” Pattinson said of the leak. “I was like, ‘Oh fuck! Does that screw me because they are so intent on secrecy?’”

The leak did not take Pattinson out of the running, but the audition process only got more intense afterwards. Pattinson was heading to the Cannes Film Festival to world premiere The Lighthouse in Directors’ Fortnight and had to rehearse for Batman auditions in his hotel room. The actor flew back to Los Angeles immediately after The Lighthouse premiere to try on the Batsuit for a “high-stakes audition.”

“It’s maybe the craziest thing I’ve ever done in terms of movie stuff,” Pattinson said about trying on the Batman suit. “I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’”
