ONE BILLION DOLLARS is what Super Bowl champion and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made for Disney by saying, “I’m going to Disney World” says Business Insider.

Mahomes endorsed Disney shortly after he spearheaded a comeback watched by 102 million people. His five words could generate more than $1 billion in extra sales for the company, Mark Douglas — the CEO of SteelHouse, a digital advertising specialist — told Business Insider in an email. For example, the shoutout is likely to spur thousands of people to book Disney hotels and cruises, buy tickets to its theme parks, subscribe to Disney+, see “Mulan” at the cinema, and purchase Disney toys, clothing, and video games. “There’s also intangible value in having the MVP of the Super Bowl say they’re going to Disneyland,” Douglas added. “It reinforces the Disney brand — it’s safe, it’s fun, and it’s where champions go.”

ACQUITTED President Trump on both impeachment arcticles. The Wall Street Journal reports, “The Republican-led Senate acquitted President Trump of charges stemming from his efforts to pressure Ukraine to announce investigations that would benefit him in this year’s election, concluding a four-month drama that has consumed Washington and intensified the nation’s sharp divide over his presidency.”

THE CHOICE is between his family and the joining the global mutant community on Krakoa  for Franklin Richards in X-Men/Fantastic Four #1 out today. According to Comics Beat, “Absolutely fantastic. One of my favorite moments of House of X was the brief encounter between the Cyclops and the Fantastic Four, and this issue picked up on that thread in a really bombastic and exciting way. Chip Zdarsky has such a great grasp on these characters’ voices and it looked gorgeous too.”

DIRECTOR Sam Raimi is in talks to take the helm of the Doctor Strange sequel starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme. Considering Raimi’s reputation for horror with the likes of the Evil Dead franchise and Drag Me to Hell, not to mention his time spent with Spider-Man for an entire trilogy of films, he seems like the perfect choice for this job, says Slash Film.

VIEW Can someone’s political identity actually affect their ability to process information? The answer lies in a cognitive phenomenon known as partisanship. While identifying with social groups is an essential and healthy part of life, it can become a problem when the group’s beliefs are at odds with reality. So how can we recognize and combat partisanship? Jay Van Bavel shares helpful strategies. Lesson by Jay Van Bavel, directed by Patrick Smith.

WHATS APP Pete Buttigieg campaign did not pay for Iowa Caucus app. The Associated Press investigated and reported:

CLAIM: Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg’s campaign funded the creation of the app that was used to tally votes during the Iowa Caucus.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Buttigieg’s campaign paid the company that created the app that failed during the Iowa Caucus for different technology services.

THE FACTS: Social media posts are claiming that Buttigieg’s campaign either funded or created the app used during the Iowa Caucus that was the cause of major delay in voting results.  Buttigieg’s campaign paid Shadow Inc., the company behind the Iowa Caucus app, $42,500 in July for text messaging software, campaign finance records show. The software was not related to that developed for the Iowa Caucus. In addition, the Buttigieg campaign did not help develop the app used in Iowa, a campaign spokesman confirmed Tuesday to the AP.

ADAM LAMBERT talks about his new album and more. According to Newsweek, “Thematically, Lambert, who is openly gay, says the lyrics on Velvet will continue to strive to uplift, inspire and empower his fans, many of whom identify as LGBT+. “One thing I’ve noticed with my fans over the years, we’re both outsiders, the fanbase and me. Something they like a lot, and respond to, is the feeling of getting strength from stuff that I sing about,” he says. “That was at the heart of a lot of these songs—inspire people, make them feel like it’s OK to be ‘other,’ it’s OK to be stranger than the norm.”

There are no overtly political anthems on the record, Lambert says, despite its release in an election year. The forthcoming presidential election follows three years of hostility felt by the LGBT+ community as the Trump administration has banned transgender military personnel and argued before the Supreme Court that civil rights laws do not protect gay people from workplace discrimination. “I think in America, we’re living through a time where the current political climate is divisive, it’s designed to create enemies. I do think at the heart of it, there is an element of white supremacy at play,” says Lambert. “All of that is disgusting to me. And as a member of the LGBTQ community, I feel like we are a minority group that’s being targeted.”

Still, there is some positive in the political climate in the U.S., for the divisiveness has given rise to Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, becoming a frontrunner for the Democratic candidacy. Buttigieg polled strongly following the Iowa Democratic caucuses on Tuesday, sharing an early lead with Bernie Sanders. (The full results have not yet been revealed due to an error with the voting software.)

“I’m very proud to see somebody who identifies as gay running in a political election. It’s very inspiring,” says Lambert. But that doesn’t necessarily mean an endorsement. Whether Lambert votes for Buttigieg will ultimately depend on the policies he puts forth, not his sexuality. “I think the identity politics are sort of an invitation … it’s a way to invite people to the party,” he explains. “There’s a certain amount of understanding that goes between the gay community and a gay candidate. But at the end of the day, people aren’t blind to the issues at hand and those need to be weighed properly.”
