A Twink on Tik Tok Explains Why Mike Pence Is Not a Twink: WATCH

A recent Tik Tok video posted by @loopyluke5 has been making the rounds on social media generating a trail of contentious and nasty comments about a problem I never knew existed.

Luke says in the video,”Newsflash cis gender, straight passing bisexual Emily’s who make their only personality trait blaming MLM [Men who love men] and in particular more feminine MLM , are everything that’s wrong with the LGBTQ plus community.”

He continues, “You do realize what Emily was saying is if you do realize that children who are assigned male at birth tend to have a more rigid and less open minded understanding about gender identity and sexuality which is why queer people assigned male at birth are easy to identify.  When I am with my female friends people always say that I am someone who is obviously gay. Terms like Twink, Otter, and Bear are the way that weadaot our identities to the prevailing heteronormative one.”

Twink isn’t some sort of slur that you can use to dislike people that you just don’t agree with. It has a history. Mike Pence is not a Twink.

I understood the words he was saying but couldn’t quite suss out what the conflict was exactly and why he in particular  was so upset about it in the video.

I felt like I was hearing a retort to a question no one asked or cared about. Since I saw it on his Facebook page first I asked Ihsaan Sooraj what the hub bub was about, “Dude it was a strawman argument to bring down queer (especially) bisexual women.”

He continued, “i think gay men like him are threatened because they feel like these women are allowed to make fun of them but not the other way around? i could be wrong tho.but doing so ignore the intersectionality between gender and sexuality that causes queer women harm and essentially erases the struggles that ‘straight-passing’ queer women face he feels dissed by them feminizing him, yet fails to realize that in culture this is de facto culturally engrained into how we treat women.
